Red Bluff Bay Day 2 – Up the Valley

[Text entry written well after the trip based on incomplete memories]

Today the four of us went up the valley at the head of Red Bluff Bay. We travelled together on kayaks and up to where the valley forks. The temperatures and sun felt much too warm for there to be as much snow as there was persisting in the valley bottom. Despite the relatively early season timing for plants, Kitty and I did what botanizing we could while Brian and Mary headed back to check some sites in the bay and beyond via kayak.

We found some different looking plants, but they turned out to be be species I had seen previously.

The valley had well-spaced large spruce trees. Along the river, cottonwoods were fairly common. The sun had dropped low behind the peaks by the time we reached the kayak. Our late return to camp would be a recurring theme for this trip.
