Crescent Moon, Mars, and Venus

Last evening there was a nice conjunction of the crescent moon, Mars and Venus. Tonight Mars and Venus will appear even closer in the sky (though the moon will be farther away), though with overcast conditions, it seems very unlikely we will be able to see them from Sitka.

Setting Crescent

I was fortunate to step outside recently just as a very young moon was setting in the evening. By bracing the camera on the railing of the breakwater section of Crescent Seawalk, I was able to get a couple of photos as it passed behind some clouds on its path to the horizon.
