I took Connor and Rowan down to the park for a little while this morning. Weather: The sun peaked out a few times, but otherwise it was cloudy and rain with a bit of wind. Birds: Down at the park, there were quite a few ducks hanging out in front of the visitor’s center. There … Read more

I took an early morning walk down to the park. Weather: Another somewhat blustery overcast day. Birds: Shorebirds are starting to show up more at the park. On an early morning walk I saw Black Turnstones, Dunlin, Western Sandpipers, I think a Least Sandpipers, and (a new one for me) a Sanderling.

Weather: A bit breezy and overcast. Temperatures were cool, but not cold. Birds: Crows were gathering nesting materials at the park. I saw a golden-plover, but it didn’t stick around long. I saw a Red-tailed Hawk fly above Indian River. Other Notes: Seems to be a good year for Goblin Gold (Schistostega pennata) sporophytes.

Weather: Partly cloudy with increasing clouds throughout the day. Temperatures seemed warm, though the breeze out of the south felt cool. Birds: Birds I noticed today included Hermit Thrush, Black Turnstones, Fox Sparrows, Golden-crowned Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows, Thayer’s Gulls, alcid, Dunlin, Western and Least Sandpipers, Northern Shoveler, Mallard, Northern Pintail, and Green-winged Teal.
