Daily Observations

Did not get out much today, though I did manage a short walk this afternoon up Indian River to where the flume splits.

Weather: Overcast with very light rain, but not much. Around the house it seemed pretty calm. It seemed fairly warm this afternoon, as well.

Other Notes: I saw my first banana slug of the year today on Westwood Trail.

I noticed what is probably the largest Red Alder (Alnus rubra) tree I’ve ever seen right beside the flume overflow channel.

I’m pretty sure I saw a mink on the opposite side of Indian River, more or less below the Raptor Center. I also found a mink scat on the sort-of trail that I used to get up into the woods after crossing under the bridge.
