These Surfbirds (Aphriza virgata) were busy feeding while they still could before the incoming tide covered the rock.
I counted 30 Surfbirds (Aphriza virgata) and at least three Rock Sandpipers (Calidris ptilocnemis) on this rock. The latter are Very Rare to Rare on the road system in Sitka.
Surfbirds (Aphriza virgata) are Uncommon along the road system in winter.
