The May 5th show featured a conversation with Liah McPherson and Andy Szabo. They have been in Sitka this spring spending time on Sitka sound surveying and documenting Humpback Whales and Gray Whales. We spoke about their work here, and how it fits within a broader studying using drones and camera technology to measure body size and condition of individual whales. They are able to track how individual whales gain and lose mass throughout their seasonal feeding, breeding, and migration cycles.
