Dreary Drizzle

Overcast with drizzle this morning changing to occasional rain this afternoon. Generally calm. (I didn’t really find it dreary, but liked the alliteration, so went with that for the post title.)

I had a four hour shift from late morning to mid afternoon. It was my last for this project, as they were about done with drilling when my shift ended.

Unlike prior days, the boat and drilling were closer to the middle of the channel. It was an area the Long-tailed Ducks spent a fair amount of time when we were closer to shore.

Today the ducks flew up and down the channel periodically, but they would go beyond the breakwater. I’m not sure where they ended up, as I lost sight of the ones I watched more closely before they landed.

A handful of gulls did hang out near the boat for much of the time I was there. Gull action will pick up in the channel significantly next week with the opening of long-line season this weekend. I’m not sure when the processors will begin processing fish, but I suspect by midweek.

I spent the evening working on making sure my websites were functional. I migrated to a new hosting plan (with the same host). It’s better in pretty much all respects (cheaper and more capacity) from the legacy one I have been on for many years. The downside is making sure things are working with a different server configuration. It’s taken some back and forth with support to figure out what’s going on, but I’m optimistic things will be working well within the next couple of days.
