Stormy Weather on Crescent Bay

Yesterday I took Rowan to school and stopped by Swan Lake and Crescent Harbor on my way home. After Connor was done with school, he, Rowan and I went for a walk down to Totem Park.

Today I spent most of the day inside, but went out later this afternoon and spent some time outside around the house.

Weather: It was very windy through the night and into yesterday morning. Winds calmed by the afternoon, however. There were periods of heavy rain. The snow level dropped below 2500 feet. Today it was calm with overcast skies and occasional showers. This afternoon, the sun broke out briefly.

Birds: I saw three Fork-tailed Storm-petrels near the mouth of Crescent Harbor yesterday morning. At Swan Lake, I saw 2 Northern Shovelers, 17 Green-winged Teal, 1 American Wigeon, 5 Scaup, 1 Great-blue Heron, and I heard a Northern Flicker.

At Totem Park yesterday there were a few more gulls, but still not in the numbers that I had seen a couple of weeks ago. There were quite a few Black-legged Kittiwakes, Common Mergansers, Mallards, Harlequin Ducks, 5 Northern Pintails, at least one American Wigeon, Black Turnstones, American Pipits, and Savannah Sparrows.

Today I noticed crows flying up and dropping stuff over by Sage Building. I was on our front step, so I just saw the top of their flight where they released the object (probably mussels, snails, or clams). I stood up to go over to the top of the hill to see where they were getting the stuff from (as they did not seem to be in the right spot to be flying up from Sage Beach), but just as I started over that way, a large flock of crows flew off from that area.
