Went for a hike up Indian River valley to take care of the ibuttons. It was a very soggy day. Found a couple of things that prompted me to pull out the camera despite the abundance of rain – a common plant in an unusual (for it) location, and a fungus I don’t remember having seen before.
Rust (Phragmidium sp) on rose plants in the neighborhood.
Pictures of a fungus collected at the recent bioblitz in Juneau. It so far has proved to be a stumper, with even experienced mycologists not recognizing it, despite it’s distinctive coarse hair-like appearance. [Update: Later determined to be an old Gloiodon.]
Unidentified fungus growing on a spruce log. This is at least the second time I’ve seen this species, but I do not know what it is. My iNaturalist Observations for Today
