Overcast with rain, especially in the afternoon. Temperatures around 50F. Breezy.
This afternoon I tagged along on a walk along part of the Estuary Life Trail and the Forest and Muskeg Trail. Kitty had been asked to do a nature walk with some college students who were in town for a workshop done through the science center.
I stayed at the back to keep from leaving anyone behind, and from time to time helped spot some of the plants or other things being talked about.
It seemed quiet out there bird-wise. Perhaps it was the steady rain falling, or maybe I wasn’t paying as much attention to the sounds as I thought I was.
It was nice to see first of season (for me) flowers like western buttercup, three-leaf goldthread, and bog rosemary.
After the walk, Kitty and I went out to check if Blue Lake road was open. It wasopen, so we drove up to the lake.
Blue Lake seems on the high side for the time of year. I imagine the warm December and January meant the lake did not drop nearly as much as it ordinarily would as precipitation fell as rain rather than snow.
