More February Sun

Continuing clear and cool. Breezy, though less than the past two days.

I woke this morning and saw the temperature had slowly risen overnight. Temperatures remained below freezing, but were not as cold as expected. The official temperature did reach 32F early this afternoon, but I think many places were not that warm.

Along with the cold, the air has been quite dry. Dewpoints have been below 0F at times. I appreciate not needing to scrape windows.

I checked each end of the road. They were loading up company trucks on the barge at Sawmill Cove. I’m assuming they’ll have left by tomorrow or the next day.

I walked around both loops of Totem Park with Kitty. We started to go out along the beach out at the end, but once out of the trees, the gusting wind was too cold.

Canada Goose

The Canada Geese seem content to stay in the estuary. At least they’ve been there each time I’ve been through recently. Today they didn’t pay any real attention while we were up on the trail, but when I stepped down to get a clearer view, they responded by honking and keeping an eye on me.

Setting Sun

With similar conditions to yesterday, I did not expect a green flash. Even still, there are only so many days the horizon is visible this time of year. I went down to the bridge for sunset.

Today I watched the inferior(?) image of the sun climb up to meet the setting sun as it neared the horizon.

Last Light

As expected, no green flash.

I was a little surprised at how early Venus was showing in the twilight sky. The sky was still basically blue when I noticed it as I got back home. I suspect it might be visible during the day if one knows where to look. I’ll try to remember to look tomorrow. I think I heard that next week it will be as bright as it will be all year.
