Sunny and Warm October Day

Partly cloudy, breezy, and warm.

I was a little surprised when I stepped outside this afternoon. It had been cool when I was out briefly in the morning. With more clouds today, I thought it would feel similar to the past few days. Instead it was distinctly warmer.

The weather reporting said it was in the upper 60s, ultimately touching 70F. I’m not sure it was quite that warm where I was, but it may have been.

If that high holds up, it blows away the previous 60F record for the date (set in 1944). It will also be the latest 70F day at the airport. The latest 70F day at the magnetic was on October 7th. This was set in 1969, though apparently it only hit 59F at the airport that day.

My outing was a walk around town.

At Swan Lake the ducks were mostly down at the lower end again (at least the ones I could see).

Today I walked along Lake Street and over to Seward Street and up to Marine Street.

I spent some time sitting on the striated rock by the blockhouse before heading down to Katlian Street.

I didn’t walk to the top of Castle Hill, but did check the maples from the city office building back parking lot.

I didn’t see much bird action today.

I am almost caught up posting radio shows. I should finish that up tomorrow. After that I’ll start publishing photojournals. I’m leaning towards just starting with entries from October, then perhaps back filling prior dates and/or high grading and prioritizing days that were particularly interesting from the five months I’ve not published anything.
