Starrigavan Sit

Overcast with a marine layer at around 2000 ft in the morning. It broke up around midday, and it became mostly sunny through the afternoon until haze and then clouds started coming over in the evening. Calm winds this morning with a sea breeze this afternoon.

I got up early with the hope for a boat trip, but my preferred destination was not an option due to concerns about the wind coming up.

Instead I went along during some errands and a drive, then went for a bird walk/listen on Galankin Island.

While out at the industrial park, I saw a Barn Swallow (#129) fly over.

I spent a much of the afternoon working to process and publish photos and photojournals from the past few days. It’s more challenging to keep up this time of year, but I have been consistent about writing daily, just not processing enough photos and publishing.

Later this afternoon I went out to Starrigavan and spent an hour+ relaxing below the viewing platform. There was a bit of a breeze, but the sun felt warm.

While there a good-sized flock (~30) of Pectoral Sandpipers showed up (there was only one when I arrived). There were also smaller numbers of smaller shorebirds.

As I was leaving, three Mallards and a Blue-winged Teal flew into the estuary pool.
