Sunny Spring Day Outings

Sunny and warm today. Minimal wind. High was into the 50s, winds calm. Indian River ibuttons were about due to fill up, so I walked up there to take care of them. The river was running on the high side of normal, though nowhere near flood stage. At other times of year, water this high would often be accompanied by discolored water, but it was quite clear today.

A Full Spring Day

On a day that tied the record for the latest first 50F day of the year I saw bird drama at the park, a Mountain Blue Bird at the airport, and checked out Blue Lake road

A Brief Trip to the Chaicheis

Overcast this morning, with clouds breaking up and staying between partly cloudy and mostly cloudy for much of the day. As it turned out, we only ended up having a little over an hour to spend at the Chaicheis. It was a little over a year ago when I was last here, so it was nice to renew acquaintances, even if it was only a short visit.

Unexpected Sunset

Overcast with drizzle through much of the day. Winds were fairly calm in town while I was out. After a day of solid gray clouds, I was surprised to see some intense pink to the WNW. Satellite imagery revealed an opening in the clouds well to the northwest of town, but it was apparently close enough to grace us with an unexpectedly colorful sunset.

Warming Tempratures (Still Gray)

A bit breezy, some rain and mid-40s. Snow level rose above 2500 ft. We probably are now past mountain snow maximum for the year. As I’ve been noticing since the herring spawned, many ravens were out on the beach and others throughout the forest were quite vocal. I spent a few minutes recording some of their calls today.
