Indian River Observations

Today was an Indian River ibutton servicing day. I made some observations along a gravel bar up from the second bridge, then was distracted for a longer period by the calls of begging young. It took a little patience, but I did discover where dippers had built a nest in a river bank just above a rapids and cascade (it makes me wonder how resilient the young are if they aren’t able to make it across to solid ground when they leave the nest – I suspect they would just be carried down stream and probably be fine at a deeper calmer stretch that’s just below the cascade).
