Daily Observations

Black-legged Kittiwake

I took a short walk around Totem Park this afternoon, taking advantage of the first day without rain this week.

Weather: After much rain, the weather finally broke. Today we had mostly cloudy skies, but no rain.

Birds There were quite a few birds scattered between the west beach in front of the Visitor’s Center and the river mouth, including
30+ Black Turnstones
4+ Spotted Sandpipers
Hundreds of Gulls
7+ Black-legged Kittiwakes
American Wigeon (in the water at the river mouth)
20+ Harlequin Ducks (off shore of the river mouth)
7 Mallards (in the river)

Additionally, I saw 2 Brown Creepers and several kinglets near the upper park entrance.
