Daily Observations

I had two tours today.  The weather was a little sloppy, so we went north to protected waters on each one.

Weather:  There was some wind with squalls moving through during the day.  The rain seemed to fall primarily from town out towards the sound.  There were also occasional breaks in the clouds resulting in brief glimpses of sunshine.

Birds:  The day after I saw the first juvenile Bonaparte’s Gull I had ever seen, I saw several more.  Although I did not see any in the channel, there were several in Nawkwasina Passage.

The young Bald Eagles from the nest on the Kasiana Islands look like they are about ready to fly.  They are getting quite large and spending time out on the branches around their nest.  I suppose it is possible they have already taken short flights around the nest, but I have not seen them do so.
