Slime Mold Update

Slime Mold Remains

Last Saturday I stopped by the slime mold Rowan found a couple of weeks ago. The photo at the top of this entry shows what remains. I touched it lightly and saw spores come off. I did not stop by between then and now, so I am uncertain what, if any, intermediate stages occured.

The other day when I was photographing mosses, I also observed a slime mold. This one looked a fair bit different than the other one, so it will be interesting to see what happens to it over the next few days/weeks.

Daily Observations

Weather: Overcast throughout the day with periods of rain. Not much wind to speak of around the neighborhood.

Birds: I saw a family of chickadees out foraging in the large black cottonwood trees in the Lincoln Street greenbelt across from Pacific High School, this evening. They were up fairly high, so I did not get a very good look at them.
