MacDonald and Cook (2007) have this to say: “…second-hand reports of single Red Fox sightings from the west coast of Chichagof Island and from northern Baranof Island ‘a number of years ago’ (J. McClung, pers. comm., 1995) are intriguing.” They also relate a report from 1908 of foxes caught in Freshwater Bay on Chichagof Island in the first decade of the 1900s. They conclude saying, “that native, or much more likely, introduced foxes may still persist on these islands cannot at this time be discounted.”
