Common winter visitant; probably a scarce resident. There are nesting records from Swan Lake and Chichagof Island, but to which of the two goldeneye species these apply remains uncertain. Swanson, Hanson and I saw five goldeneyes (a male with four females) in Nakwasina Sound 12 June 1984, but, again, were not able to distinguish the species. Gibson (1976a) reported two females at Sashin Lake 4 July 1975.
