Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Throughout at all elevations.
Habitat: In a great variety of habitats: rotten logs, forest floors, damp and shaded cliffs, on mineral soils, calcareous and siliceous substrates, driftw wood, among mosses in many habitats, as an epiphyte, in peatlands, and among bryophytes in subalpine and alpine rock crevices and (occasionally) tundra.
Comments: Often fertile. The species was probably able to persist in almost all refugia during the Pleistocene as well as follow the ice margin in a variety of habitats.
