Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Probably throughout.
Habitat: Probably throughout in peatlands, but generally overlooked as, in southeastern Alaska, it occurs generally as isolated strands among Sphagnum. It also occurs on deadwood in wet, sunny areas. Elsewhere in its range it may form thick, peaty, pure mats.
Comments: Dioicous, gemmae common, sporophytes rare, not seen with sporophytes in southeastern Alaska.
