Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Not extending further south than Sitka, widespread where found.
Habitat: From sea level to alpine summits, often on rocks, occasionally in forests, most frequently mixed with other bryophytes. Strands may be expected in most mesic to dry environments wherever there are robust and loose bryophyte turfs.
